PSO Meeting Notes

January 13, 2025

Attendees

Shana Thomas, Laura Roth-Haley, Emily McCown, Barb Stanek, Katie Gregston, Erica Hallsten, Emily Werner, Stacie Dixon, Julie Keller, Meghan King

The meeting began at 6:36pm.

Minutes approved from November meeting unanimously.

President’s Report: None provided.

Principal’s Report: Course registration is in full swing.  Deadline has been extended to 1/24 by 4pm but most kids are all set.  All 4 year plans should have been transferred to SchoolLinks.  All references/presentations are available under “school counseling” on the RSHS website.  Winter dance is next weekend (1/25) and tickets will be sold at lunch starting on Tuesday.  Pep assembly will be on Friday.  1/27 will be a late start and club photo day for the yearbook.  New activities director will be announced soon.  New assistant principal for the incoming freshman class will be announced in early February.

Treasurer’s Report: Most changes are concessions-related. Class of 2027 holiday gift wrapping and Stonie's Sausage funds have been added to reporting. All money in the budget is “spoken for” with regards to teacher grants but just in process of being paid out.  $100 will be sent to RSMS PSO to support International Night.  This time last year we had $6,000 in concession proceeds, and this year we are at about $5,500 but we did have one less home football game.

Communication/Website: Minutes and budgets are updated and current.  Keep sending Shana social media posts to stay active.

Events/Staff Support: Since we have shifted to cards/cookie for specific holidays and a bigger lunch for all at the end of year, there is not much of an update.

Spirtwear: Shana to connect with Libby D’Angelo to get the ball rolling on a spiritwear design from students to sell in Spring.

Grade Level Rep’s Report

Senior Reps: Banners, videos, slideshow requests to parents have gone out.  Senior Slam tickets go on sale in February.

Junior Reps: Pura Vida bracelets currently on sale.  Three Savor the Flavors planning meetings have taken place.

Sophomore Reps: Gift wrapping had low participation but was fun.  Continuing to brainstorm additional fundraising ideas- potentially a gift basket raffle.

Freshman Reps: Corner Butcher meat pack fundraiser in the works for the spring, ahead of grilling season.

Committee Reports

Old Business: none.

New Business:

Concessions- Can we do a “forbidden foods” day and open concession stand for lunch to raise additional funds?  Will review some potential days to see what may work.

Spring athletic events typically do not require PSO support to staff the concession stand, but if a class would like to raise funds, we can inquire with the Athletic Director.

Spiritwear in Snack Shack- Feedback from students is that our S hoodie is outdated and they would like a slouchy, more modern fit.  Stacie will research adding more crewnecks to our inventory.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:00pm.
