March 2025 Minutes

RSHS PSO March Meeting- March 10 at 6:30pm in Summit Library
Attendees:  Laura Roth-Haley, Jodi Carlson, Meghan King, Emily Werner, Lara Lockey, Julie Keller, Barb Stanek,Jen Naslund, Erica Hallsten, Jamie Cobb, Joan Voorhees, Dr. McCown

6:34pm Meeting called to order.


President’s Report, Laura Roth-Haley: Welcome. Shana is home battling illness and we hope she’s better soon!  Lindsay Pearson is traveling for work so Jodi is filling in as secretary.
We are compiling our PSO slate for next school year.  Shana & Laura will be reaching out to see who wants to continue in their position. Communications/website role remains open as Shana has been covering those duties so far. By April the slate will be posted, so that we can vote at our last May meeting. We will need freshman class reps.  If anyone has any suggestions, please reach out to Shana & Laura.  Would love to have any candidates attend our last meetings. 


Principal Report, Dr. McCown: Spring sports have begun. Winter sports highlights include Brianna Wilkerson placed 4th in 100 fly. Madelyn Haynes is a state champion!! Our first female state champion in wrestling. Freshman Addison St. George was also a 3rd place finisher.
Music competitions have also begun. Orchestra has received some top ratings. Band had many solo and ensemble top ratings as well. Lots of music accolades for Summit. Little Mermaid musical last week was a huge success as well.
Special Olympics will be Friday of this week and 150 students will serve as buddies, with the sports management class coordinating all.
Reminder that Monday return from Spring Break will be a late start.
Renaissance academic assembly will be April 3 and that is always an event all enjoy. April 8 is junior ACTs.
Many senior events coming in May as well…prom, graduation!


Treasurer’s Report, Emily Werner: Concessions money will be counted on Thursday this week, including Forbidden Foods Day from February so that should add money there. Insurance just got paid. A few teacher grants have gone out, but not many.  Lara Lockey to reach out and remind teachers to submit their receipts to get paid for approved grants. 
Class budget breakouts are listed.  No significant changes since Savor the Flavors has not been added in yet.


**PSO  Scholarship applications need to be read and “graded” – freshman parents.
Heart of the Falcon, $1000 sent to Melissa Feig – Emily will ask her when she needs those funds. 


School Support Report, Jodi Carlson: Continue to give a treat and handwritten note to staff on their special day.  Still planning a larger lunch as part of American Education Week.


Senior Rep Report: 104 ticket sold to Senior Slam so far (about 1/3 of the class).  $1120 in additional donations for the suite raffle at graduation. 
$5200 Senior Slam ticket sales so far.


Junior Rep Report: Savor the Flavors sold out. 15 restaurants. 5 sponsorships of local businesses. Committee worked since October to secure restaurants. Mrs. D’Angelo made the banner and it is reusable for future classes. Advertising Yard Card Nut donated a sign. Julie Farley ordered 10 yard signs for advertising in local neighborhoods. 2 sandwich board signs with QR codes. Flyers hung up, advertised on the socials. Dr. Mignerone was super helpful always updating numbers on sandwich board. $3545 total made via online ticket sales. Parking spot raffle generated $1966 in profit. $900 profit for raffle baskets. $478 sponsorships profit. 10 baskets for live auction. Balloon pop huge hit. Approx $8295 profits and event was a huge success!  Sophomore reps to attend debrief meeting in preparation to take over the event next year.
Will continue to sell Pura Vida bracelets and working on a strategy to sell at middle school.


Sophomore Rep Report: Will be selling senior yard signs after Spring Break. Raffle in April for basket-palooza and donations have already been secured. Sales will run April 1 thru end of month so baskets can be delivered before Mother’s Day.


Freshman Rep Report: Meat pack fundraiser with Corner Butcher launched last night. There are two different meat pack options and options to pick up at their Ellisville location or pick up at Summit for an additional $5.  Sold 8 since opened sales last night. 
Flamingo flocking needs review by next year’s freshman class reps.  Lots of work to store, monitor, place for very few sales.  Was popular during COVID but seems to have died down.
Considering class t-shirt sales for c/o 2028 as an additional fundraiser.
Spirit Wear Report: Working on spring spirit wear in conjunction with the Amped business classes.  Several designs have been submitted and we will be meeting to determine what will be ordered and for sale.  More to come.
