President’s Report: There is a President’s Forum Wednesday at Lafayette.
Principal’s Report: Good start to the school year. They are re-emphasizing rules from last year. The hardest one is technology in the classroom, but kids are adapting to the expectations. First football game is on Friday. All middle school students are expected to be with a parent or guardian. Homecoming is a few weeks away. Students can bring in 5 cans for $5 off. Powder Puff, School Assembly, and the parade are all on the horizon. Class photos are in, and make-ups are next Monday. Practice ACT is next Saturday. The school is also offering fall and spring free prep courses. More information to come.
Staff Report
Treasurer’s Report: (not present) Updated budget presented. We added to the teacher and staff support, conference dinner as well as supplemented some other things. Nothing had to be cut.
Communication/Website: They now have access to parent square and made a post about the ribbon cutting. They can now also post the minutes and budget. For uniformity of process, doing one master PSO post going forward and letting the class leader repost what is relevant to their grade level.
Events/Staff Support: Back to school donuts went well with the coffee truck. Upcoming is custodians in Oct. and American Education Week in Nov. Spirit wear sales are going well. They are going to open the spirit store for 10 days soon.
Grade Level Rep’s Report
Senior Reps: Blood drive in December, Gas card fundraiser right now. Spring raffle TBD.
Junior Reps: Friday game fundraiser going well. Plenty of volunteers. Two more concession stands coming up. Meeting with prep committee this month to work on Savor the Flavor. Meeting with class principal as well.
Sophomore Reps: Selling Johnny’s sausages. Stoney’s in the fall. Gift wrapping in the winter. Possibly a pancake breakfast and or Rock and Roll event. Basket palooza in the spring. They want to make sure there is a strong parent volunteer group as the kids get older.
Freshman Rep: Starting flamingo flocking. May do a meat market (meat packs, partnership with Corner Butcher). The first concession stand is Wednesday.
