DESCRIPTION: Four-week programs focused on a STEM-based interactive curriculum are held on The Danforth Campus of Washington University in St. Louis. BESt students have the opportunity to earn a cash stipend of up to $400 (BESt I), $400 (BESt II), or $500 (BESt III). Stipends are awarded based on merit, attitude, and overall performance.

ELIGIBILITY: Full-time, under-represented minority freshman (BESt I), sophomore (BESt II), or junior (BESt III) student currently enrolled in a St. Louis regional high school (St. Louis City, St. Louis and St. Charles, MO counties, and Madison, St. Claire, IL counties). Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale. High-potential students, participating in at least one extra-curricular activity or organization. (Must be able to provide required documentation to receive compensation.)

DESCRIPTION: Campers will explore the basic principles of animation through hands-on experiences using a variety of media — including pencil, paper and stop-motion materials. Campers also will practice animating in 2D on Cintiqs and by using industry-standard software like Toon Boom Harmony. At the end of the week, each camper will have produced a short, animated film suitable to screen for family and friends.

DESCRIPTION: QuestBridge partners with top colleges and universities to offer select College Prep Scholars the opportunity to take college-level courses on their campuses and learn more about the college experience. Summer program scholarships offer high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds opportunities for educational and personal enrichment and a special chance to experience life beyond high school. DESCRIPTION: This is a competitive summer program that engages high-achieving high school students from all over the world in interdisciplinary, hands-on, university-level research. Students will be paired with a mentor (graduate student, postdoc, or faculty) and choose a research project from a long list of disciplines offered by the program each year.

ELIGIBILITY: High school student in the 10th or 11th grade (outstanding 9th graders accepted on a case-by-case basis); minimum 3.80 academic weighted GPA requirement

DESCRIPTION: SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors to visit West Point in June. Students in this program get to spend the week with our cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall. Choose 5 (out of 17 available) academic workshops. Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more! Challenge yourself physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports. Complete your admissions interview with a cadet.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be be a high school junior (current year); be a US citizen; reach the age of 16 by 1 July of the summer between their junior and senior years; have no serious medical issues. Standardized test scores are not required but the ideal applicant has a strong academic background and participates in team sports and other extracurricular activities.
